Finally got some video to post. I had to take it with my camera in the right hand while playing bass in the left, but with Purple Rain you can do that. Only two minutes worth and Clay tears it up, hope you enjoy it. Hit the arrow at the lower left to play. From Ziggy's May 23,2009

The Time of Our Life

We've really had a lot of fun doing this band thing. All of us look at the band and music as an escape from the pressures of adult life. We usually question that thinking about 2am of the second night's show and while we're schlepping equipment in and out of the studio, but all in all, it's a great hobby. Thank you Dirk, Clay, Mel, Karen, Ed, Rich and Charlie for making this happen and for the privilege of making music with such talented people. It couldn't work if we didn't like each other...it also takes the toleration of the families at home. Is it time for a group hug yet? The first photo below is a 2am victory celebration...

Individuals

The shots below are in my opinion some of the best individual shots of band members I have collected over the last couple years. See what you think...

Left: No, this is not a young Mac Davis working on his hit tune "Baby, Baby Don't Get Hooked On Me". This is a young Ed Robbins working on a James Taylor tune in 1975 before hitting the road on his UPS America tour...

Crowd Pix Dancing

These photos catch our crowds on the dance floor. It's amazing the energy it gives the band when we see people dancing and getting into the music. Because of the noise on stage, we rarely can hear what the people hear out front of the PA, so there's a basic insecurity that it doesn't sound good. When we see people dancing, it tells us the music is ok. We've had some really good times with our crowds...

Stands Out in the Crowd

Some people just stand out in the crowd. These shots are a sample of some of the people we've seen. I wish we had pix of all of them to post, but they'd probably shut this blogsite down.

Left: VFW outdoor show. I think we triggered a flashback with this guy. He dove on the ground and yelled incoming after this photo was taken...

Above: From time to time we have wedding parties come into the club we're playing. This is one of the cutest and nicest couples we've had the pleasure to play for.

Above: At Phone Booth, I think this might've involved back child support...

Above: Can't say what I'm thinking about this one, so I'll let you think it for yourself. These two are quite the dancers.

Above: And of course we never have any listeners who drink too much...

Above: This first time listener was impressed enough to get his hoody band autographed! He said he was going to sell it to Hard Rock Cafe in Dayton. Wait a minute, there isn't one in Dayton...

WINDFALL IS:
a group of experienced hobby musicians who truly enjoy playing cover music for people who like to party and dance. We focus on a wide variety of music that has appeal to those who enjoy classic rock, current tunes (excluding rap) and dance music. We want our audiences to have a great time because that's when we have the most fun ourselves. Windfall members have played some of the areas top venues like Gilly's, Katz, the Nutter Center and area festivals. Want to energize your event? Call us...
Windfall members are:
Dirk Pettit - Drums, logistics. One of the area's top drummers...In addition, every band needs people to do the heavy logistical lifting that it takes to present a professional show to the public and Dirk does it for Windfall. He provides practice space, equipment transportation, band lighting and sound equipment, and does the majority of bookings. Many years of area band experience. One of the group's original founders, now going on year 6 under the Windfall name.
Melanie Uhl - Lead vocal, rhythm guitar. If you can hear a voice that reflects a combination of vocalists like Melissa Etheridge, Janis Joplin, Sass Jordan, Stevie Nicks, Pat Benatar, Robert Plant and a few others, you can begin to hear a unique voice like Mel's. Joined Windfall in 2005.
Clay Jenkin - Lead guitar. Joined the band in 2007 learning 40 songs in 30 days for his first show. Clay is a creative guitar genius who is just hitting his stride after a multi-year sabbatical. Can play anything to include Stevie Ray Vaughn, Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Angus Young...
Karen Rightmyer - Keys, harmony vocal. Joining in 2008, Karen pitches in with signature keyboard parts and backup vocals. Karen does a great job fronting the band and talking to our audience while the rest of the band fiddles around on stage between songs.
Ed Robbins - Harmonica, rhythm guitar. Began with us as a guest harmonica player in 2008 and was such a great addition that we now do a group of songs that feature his harp solos. An outstanding rhythm guitar player, he adds superb body and depth to the rhythm section when the tune calls for it.
Mike Henry - Bass, harmony vocal. One of the original founding members with Dirk, Mike's Ampeg SVT4-Pro with 810 cab and Stingray 5 bass rig, combined with Dirk's expert percussion, lays down a solid foundation for the music Windfall offers.
Windfall currently has an email group of 200 members that we notify for every appearance. Invest your entertainment dollar wisely and get the best return available in the area. Don't want to take our word for it? Talk to our favorite venues Ziggy's Night Club in Moraine and Phone Booth Lounge in Kettering!
